Bead Making & Jewellery - Sara Withers

	The beauty is in the detail.. this course offers .a chance to experiment with colour, pattern and form to create individual decorative beads using polymer clay (Fimo/Sculpey). This wonderfully versatile medium can be shaped and moulded in various innovative ways to produce different effects. Learn to design and make jewellery combining your own miniature creations with selected ready-made beads.
The Course (Two days) A number of modelling techniques are covered during the course such as cane work and millefiori, embossing and texturing. Completed beads are then hardened in a small oven. Sara will provide a practical introduction to the use of wires and threads, knotting and bead weaving. The skills you master can be continued at home without the need for specialist equipment.
	Tutor: Sara Withers Sara produces a range of exquisite jewellery, assembling her own hand crafted beads together with others collected from around the world. Her intricate work can be seen at shows and galleries throughout the country. Sara is the author of several books on the art of bead making and jewellery. Titles include 'Exotic Beads', 'Beautiful Beading' and 'The Encyclopedia of Beading Techniques'. Her latest, 'The Encyclopedia of Wire & Jewellery Techniques' is due out early 2010.
	Materials The cover charge for the two-day course is £13. A good choice of polymer clay colours will be supplied. Additional beads can be purchased from the tutor if desired or students may prefer to bring their own.
