Mosaic - Peter Massey

book courseSuited to all levels of experience, this workshop explores traditional and modern techniques using high quality glass and ceramic tesserae (mosaic tiles). Potential projects include a decorative panel, mirror or small table top, house number or name.
For more advanced students, there is the chance to try additional techniques such as the indirect method or 3D applications.

The Course (Two days)

"Thankyou both so much for such a delightful weekend. You are superb hosts as well as teachers. We had a wonderful time and certainly hope to return, this time for a little longer so we can explore the area. I am definitely hooked on mosaic work." M.G. (Helensburgh)

The course begins with an inspirational slide show followed by instruction on materials and shaping techniques. Students will go on to pursue their own creative projects in the style and material of their choice, working from their own design or one provided by Zantium. Grouting and finishing demonstrations conclude the workshop.

Tutor: Peter Massey

Peter and Alison are the founders of Zantium, a creative partnership specialising in mosaic. Their activities include designing, making and teaching. Their work has appeared in various lifestyle magazines and been featured on Channel 4 TV.

Materials

A selection of quality materials will be available at an additional charge. Depending on the project, the price is typically around £15 per square foot of mosaic. This includes the base board, adhesive, most mosaic tile ranges and grout.
Metal table bases can be made to order by prior arrangement. These start at around £120.
Note: This materials charge is in addition to the course fee which includes tuition, lunch and refreshments.
