Design, carve and print your own single colour linocut. A perfect introduction to this effective and rewarding technique.
Lino cutting is a form of relief printing. Zoë will take you through the various steps from sketch to print. A simple graphic image is drawn onto the lino block (A5 size). Parts of the design are gouged away with sharp cutting tools to leave raised areas. These raised areas are inked up to form the final print. By experimenting with the tools, a variety of marks and effects can be produced to create an exciting print.
Students are welcome to bring their own ideas/sketches if they wish…or simply come along to be inspired. Lino printing lends itself to pattern and stylised imagery. No previous experience is required.
