Combine traditional glass painting with lead work. You will create a small stained glass panel to take home and some samples. Open to both beginners and those with experience.
Day 1 – Learn the basics of stained glass painting using black/brown tracing colour. Experiment with mark making techniques such as shading, sgraffito and applying texture. Learn how to cut glass safely and produce a simple design of your own made up of several pieces.

Day 2 – Assemble your panel using lead, joining the sections with solder. Apply glass cement; then clean and polish to finish.

Jane is a glass artist based in the Peak District. Her background is in Fine Art and Printmaking. She uses contemporary glass painting techniques, making marks and textures, so painting with light! She regularly exhibits her work, takes commissions and runs workshops.

A selection of clear and coloured glass will be available plus everything for glass painting and leading up (tracing paint, gum arabic, lead, solder, cement and whiting.)
All tools, brushes and equipment are provided. You will need to wear safety specs for cutting glass and a dust mask when using glass paint/solder.
Materials fee: £20 (includes all materials and firing of glass)

This workshop involves the handling and soldering of metals (specifically lead, tin and copper). It requires the use of sharp materials, hot tools and chemicals. Protective goggles, gloves and dust masks will be provided.
Whilst every effort is made to keep the studio environment safe and well ventilated, if you are pregnant or suffer from asthma or dermatitis, for your own assurance, we recommend you seek medical advice before booking this course.
Start time: Join us from 9.30am for tea/coffee and introductions. Tuition starts at 10.00am
End time: Tuition finishes around 4.30pm
There is an hour for lunch and breaks whenever you wish.
A tasty light lunch is included in the course fee. Please let us know of any special dietary requirements. Help yourself to drinks and biscuits throughout the day plus homemade cake mid afternoon.
