Coptic Stitch Bookbinding (1 day)

Coptic Stitch Bookbinding Course at Zantium Studios

This historical technique is perfect for creating books & journals from scratch. Take away a pair of handcrafted books – plus the skills & knowledge to make more at home.

Coptic bookbinding dates back to 3rd century Egypt. Characterised by an exposed spine with visible stitching, the construction ensures a book lies flat when open; its sewn spine making an interesting feature.

Anna will guide you through the making process step by step. You will complete two beautiful books to take home, one with a single colour thread, the second using two colours.

Choose from a selection of papers for your book covers, complimented by coloured threads. Each book measures approx. 11 x 10 x 2.5cm.

Suitable for both beginners and those with experience.

“Anna happily shares her wealth of knowledge throughout the day. It is enormously enjoyable to create a book which is both functional and deeply personal”
“I was totally engrossed in the course. A fascinating and productive day. Thoroughly recommended”
