Celebrate the art of Contemporary Gilding on this fascinating workshop. Using Dutch gold leaf, you will learn how to gild your own decorations, just in time for Christmas! Take away the basic skills to create beautiful gifts and give your home some festive sparkle.
An introduction to the art of gilding, its history and uses. Learn simple techniques to add a festive gilded finish to an oyster shell, scallop or pinecone. You will also create your own hand Gilded Victorian Walnuts to hang on your tree. This wonderful Christmas tradition goes back over 100 years.

Tutor: Amelia Bedson
Amelia is a professional conservator with a wealth of experience in the fine arts sector. With a Masters in ‘The Conservation of Cultural Heritage’, she specialises in restoring/conserving decorative objects and surfaces. Amelia enjoys sharing her knowledge through teaching. Materials:
4 pages of transfer Dutch Gold, gilding size & lacquer, a choice of natural forms to gild, hanging ribbons – plus use of tools, burnishing cloths etc.
Materials fee: £15 per person (payable to the tutor at the end)
This is in addition to the course fee
Timing & Refreshments:
Arrival: Join us from 1.30pm to settle in
Tuition: 2.00pm – 5.00pm (with a break for tea & cake)
Drinks, biscuits & home-made cake are included in the course fee.
